Change audio volume online

Make an audio file louder or quieter, right in your browser, without uploading anything. Pick an MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A or FLAC file — or a video file, whose audio track is adjusted and whose picture is dropped — choose a volume change from −20 dB to +20 dB, and save the result in the format you choose. The tool is built for short clips: adjusting happens on your device, so a long recording can take a while.

How it works

Changing audio volume, simply explained

The tool reads the file on your device and re-encodes its sound louder or quieter by the amount you pick — always a fresh encode, never a copy of the old sound into a new container, so the adjusted file plays cleanly in any player. The control is plain gain: every part of the sound is scaled by the same amount, from −20 dB (a tenth of the amplitude, 10%) to +20 dB (ten times the amplitude, 1000%), with 0 dB leaving it unchanged. There is no limiter and no loudness normalisation, so a loud recording pushed up may distort where its loudest parts clip — if the result crackles, run it again with a smaller increase. Only the first audio track is kept: a video file adjusts from its audio track alone, its picture dropped, and a file with no audio track is refused. MP3 plays almost everywhere and its bitrate is yours to pick; WAV is uncompressed and larger; OGG carries Opus sound and accepts mono sound only; M4A carries AAC sound; FLAC is lossless and compressed, so it keeps every detail without the size of a WAV. Everything runs on your device, which keeps your files private but means speed depends on your device — short clips finish quickly, while long recordings can take a very long time, so this tool is best for short clips.
