Trimming video, simply explained
The tool re-encodes the segment you choose in the format you pick: MP4 plays almost everywhere and WebM is for web pages. The cut is exact — the saved clip starts at your start time and ends at your end time — because the video is decoded from the start of the file, discarding everything before your start point, which is also why trimming a segment deep into a long video takes longer. Only the first audio track is kept and subtitles are not carried over. Everything runs on your device, which keeps your videos private but means speed depends on your device — short clips trim quickly, while a long video can take a very long time, so this tool is best for short clips.
