Extract frames from videos online

Save still pictures from a video, right in your browser, without uploading anything. Pick evenly spaced frames, one frame every few seconds, or a single frame at a chosen time, and save each as PNG or JPG. The tool is built for short clips: extracting frames happens on your device, so a long clip can take a while, and no run saves more than 60 frames.

How it works

Extracting frames, simply explained

The tool reads the clip on your device and saves the pictures at the times you chose: evenly spaced frames spread across the whole clip, one frame every few seconds from the start, or a single frame at the time you enter. Each frame is saved at the clip's own resolution, upright when the clip was filmed sideways, and named after the original clip with its frame number, so the stills stay in clip order. PNG stills are lossless; JPG stills are smaller. No run saves more than 60 frames, so a long clip on a short interval still gives at most 60 stills — pick a longer interval or fewer evenly spaced frames for a longer clip. Sound is ignored entirely: a silent clip extracts the same way, and no clip is ever refused for its sound. A still picture is not a video, so this tool only takes video files. Everything runs on your device, which keeps your videos private but means speed depends on your device — short clips finish quickly, while long videos can take a very long time, so this tool is best for short clips.
