Burn captions into videos for social media

Add your own subtitles to a video so they show on every platform — right in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Or convert a subtitle file between SRT and VTT. Built for short-form clips: burning happens on your device, so long videos will take a long time.

Burning in captions, simply explained

Burning in means the words become part of the picture itself, so they show on any platform, with or without sound, and nobody needs to turn subtitles on. You supply the subtitle file — this tool does not write captions for you — and it re-encodes your video as MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio) with the words drawn over the picture. Only the first audio track is kept, and HDR videos are converted to standard colour. Converting subtitles only changes the file format: SRT and VTT carry the same words and timings, so nothing is lost either way. Everything runs on your device, which keeps your files private but means speed depends on your device.
